The WYSIWYG-Editor may be nice for some people, but it sucks when you are used to the Wiki syntax.

Every user should be able to decide on his own if we wants to have it as default or not.

            [CONFSERVER-5770] Allow enabling/disabling the WYSIWYG-Editor per User

Is this feature still available ?

Where is this setting gone? In the current version of Confluence (5.3.1), I cannot see a "wiki markup" tab.

The only possibility to write directly in markup is to open a popup window when clicking on the menu entry. But editing in a popup is something completely different the disabling the rich text editor completely (for that user).

If it was under 'Preferences', I would have found it some time ago. And since it is a global per-user preference...

You can do this already – go to the edit page, click on the Wiki markup tab, and click the 'make wiki markup default' link.
