    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

As per https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-37623, images cannot be attached to global templates. They also cannot be dragged in.

However, images can be pasted in, which will work fine until you attempt to save. When you attempt to save after pasting an image in, the save will fail for no reason and with no feedback to the user.

Confluence should either warn images aren't able to be pasted in, adjust the image so it references the page / URL it came from or strip the image out.

            This is still an issue

Sorry for your pain Zachary Beach. Thanks for reporting it. Would still love if this could be marked as a bug. It's four years old, and surely for the amount of time it's wasted us customers, there could be some simple fix/warning such as "can't save because you can't use images in templates."

Lost 2 hours troubleshooting this bug from 2016.... Oh Atlassian....

Having no indication that an image is the problem is really frustrating. I only had one image in my planned template, which I would have happily used without the image too. Whether images are made to work in templates or not, at least some message stating images can't be used right now would be very useful and save wasted time.

Any updates on this? It'd be great if it could be marked as a bug or at least the rational against it could be explained. We don't need this flow to be supported by templates... But we do need an error that it failed to save. Right now it silently fails, leaving us to assume it worked. That's what has us all riled up! 😀

I just spent over an hour reconstructing my template multiple times and echo the feedback above.  This issue is a productivity killer.

Also, this is certainly a bug, not an enhancement.

Not only an issue with images silently failing a save but also anchor tags links, even if they are local to the page, display as broken links.

Bump from me too, would at least be good if it told me it wasn't going to save, or gave an error message when I try to, spent too long trying to figure out why there wasn't a template in my list.

Bump on this - I too have lost work / time because of this bug and it would be great to get it fixed.

Or even just a warning so that others don't spend hours scratching their head as to why they're losing work.

You're right John, I'm not sure what Eric is talking about either - that appears to be a completely unrelated ticket.

The issue that Eric links appears to be about Jira, not confluence templates? I just ran into this bug as well. The fact that it silently and mysteriously fails when you paste source content that contains an image, into a destination template, was very frustrating. Whether or not you support copy/paste as an enhancement is a different issue than the silent failure.
