Description
Problem description
When installing Confluence using the binary installer, a dedicated "confluence" user should be created for the application service. This does not happen on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, and instead the resulting application instance is started by the root user.
Steps to reproduce
- Install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and login to the operating system as root
- Download Confluence binary installer (version 5.8.9 was used for this test) and add the executable permission to the file
- Go through the install prompt, choosing Express Install and opting for the application to be installed as a service
Expected result
- The Confluence process is running as a dedicated service user called "confluence"
Observed/actual result
- The Confluence process is running as root (verified via ps aux | grep java)
- The "confluence" user was never created (verified via grep 'confluence' /etc/pwd, which returns empty)
Other notes
- This was tested on 5.8.9, but likely to affect earlier versions of the Installer as well.
- Likely related to same root cause as
CONF-25346
