Not able to Edit the page despite having all permissions in Default Space Permissions

I added confluence-administrators group to default permissions and gave full rights.

As an admin and part of the group when i go to a page and click on edit, the page loads in edit mode. When i click save, it says you do no have rights.

Also, when I click on Edit, the page loads in edit mode. when i click close, a blank white page appears. You need to clink on the homepage (Site Logo) to go to homepage.

However, this behavior vanishes when i either add myself or the group in the space permissions of that individual space.

The crux is default space permissions not getting honored in some cases.
