    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Currently, Confluence keep the image attached without any changes.

For instance where business does not have a need to keep the original image size etc, there should be an option to allow Administrator to set the default max size etc for the image.

In this case, the image attached will be crop or resize depending on the default setting done in the Administrative option.

[CONFSERVER-38770] Option to automatically resize image uploaded to pages

Same here. We use Confluence to document information on our network locations and very often users upload 10s of photos directly from their mobile phones with sometimes mobile phones create 4-5MB files for every image so we quickly end up with huge size of the attachments per page (impacts both loading times and storage).

So on option to resize the image when uploading (like most forum apps and platforms do) would be great - either by reducing image size to pre-defined size (let's say 1600px) and/or by reducing the image quality to certain level to get average photo size to 300-400KB.

Also a method to do this to all already uploaded photos, either page by page or by a system-level setting would be great.

We are really interested in this feature on Confluence Server

I'm on board with default image width, we do a lot with posters and print elements, I'm always shrinking what I upload down so the page isn't 10 miles long, but it's tough to impart that instruction on the staff. Also, since I can no longer edit others' comments, so I can't even go back and shrink them myself.

Automatic resizing is really needed, right now we are facing some serious load time issues when users are uploading original images at 2,000px wide (or more). It would be even better if Confluence could provide automatic scaling like Wordpress does (ie. creating differently sized versions of each uploaded image, and showing the optimal version in each situation - e.g. a 250px wide version within the blog post news feed, a 500px wide version in an individual blog post, etc.). But given the large amount of additional image files this would create (each with its own attachment ‘page’), I can imagine this will never be an option.

BTW, I just found out that the Sketch add-on allows end users to crop / resize their own images. This may be a nice solution to our problem, but it does mean end users will have to make a habit out of this. I would rather prefer the admin could set a max-width upon upload, and Confluence automatically taking care of the resizing for us.

Instead of automatically lowering the size if images based on administrator parameters, I prefer to have an option for the user to, when editing a page, change the size (file-size by changing compression, pixels etc.). Function like microsoft word offers. And not only for selected image, but all images on page.

This will give user & administrator control and still enable some pages to have high quality images in a space when needed.

Would be good to have an option for the user to resize the image as well when they attach it to JIRA. I'm adding mobile screenshots to Jira descriptions & comments and they turn up huge which makes it hard to read as you have to scroll for ages to get past them.

Would be good if I could specify the size to display the image like you can in Confluence when you attach it.

Is that covered by this or is there a separate suggestion ticket for this?

We also need this solution urgently! Our colleagues (users) are now more and more engaged in the platform, sharing more...  but sadly that means that the images they add are often making it hard for others to load pages... very conter-productive...

Our customer's intranet is enormously bloated by the many images uploaded by users. This feature is urgently needed!

Yes please, this is very relevant for us!

Our confluence site runs slow in many project countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. Users can currently upload huge images.

Please implement a settings which gives a warning / does not allow image uploads over a set size and/or a tool that automatically renders down image sizes.
