    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

This improvement ticket is to track adding support for Office 2016 for Office Connector in future versions of Confluence.

Presently, editing documents in Office 2016 is not supported due to limitations in WebDAV with some Office file types and browsers.

Some combinations of browsers and office files types work, however there is not a clear solution to make this work across all file type and currently supported browsers.

Atlassian Status as of August 2018

      Hi all,

Thank you for your patience on this issue.

We are pleased to announce that the new Edit Files experience is here. From Confluence 6.11 (release notes). Now, you can edit any file attached to a Confluence page using your preferred desktop application, then save the file back to Confluence automatically. The new Atlassian Companion app works across Windows and Mac operating systems with any of our supported Browsers.

      Best,

Victoria Li | Product Manager - Confluence Server

Hello, We are facing an SSL error while trying to edit Office files using "Edit in Office" link. Our configuration is :

            Client : Windows 7 / i.e 11 / Office 2010

Server : Confluence Server 6.15.9 on Linux (Redhat)

It was not the case before we migrate from Windows to Linux for ou Server.

            Any hints ?

            Thank you very much !!

Hi Daniel, I have already raised an enhancement request to bring back the "Edit in Office" link. Please vote for it. (CONFSERVER-57418).
Although I'm afraid that the implementation of such a link would still open the document in the viewer first.
There is no "Edit" possibibility outside of the viewer. Maybe it would be worthwhile to raise another enhancement request to get such a feature.
            Also related: CONFSERVER-57418.

            Sigh...
I looked forward to upgrade Confluence to get the new "edit in Office" experience - now, experiance can be both - positive and not so positive.
One must preview the document to be able to edit it?
And then it needs some additional client to be installed locally to be able to open a document in Microsoft Office in edit mode?

Why? Is it really that complex to accomplish - or to keep simple?

            Everything else still works fine
