Description
Premier Support Client using Confluence 5.7.4 Standalone (Build 5788) has decided to investigate Confluence 5.7.4 Datacenter Edition (Build 5790) and was in the process of setup for the Datacenter edition, but received an error when attempting the upgrade:
The version of Confluence Data Center does not match your existing installation. You'll need to download the same version as your existing installation before you can setup Confluence Data Center.
After attempting this locally, the reason was discovered: The Data Center Build Number (5790) is not in sync with the Server edition (5788).
Steps to Reproduce
- Install Confluence 5.7.4 standalone server with an example site content
- Download Confluence 5.7.4 Data Center edition
- Migrate the existing 5.7.4 to the Data Center edition
- The install fails as shown
Workaround hack:
- In order to make the installation work, you must alter the Build Number in the confluence-cfg.xml file to the Data Center Build Number (5790)
- The install progresses at this point
- This should not be the client experience and build numbers should be consistent across a release - inconsistency appears as if the process is untested
