Save/Cancel button not visible when page editing in IE 11 using custom Main Layout

I added a header with a small jpg file and some test to my Main Layout. When editing in IE 11, the cancel and save button do not appear. It works if I turn on Enterprise Mode or if I take out the custom header, which is not an option. The editing function works fine in Firefox and Chrome.
