Add an Allow in robots.txt for adding Team Calendars calendars to Google Calendars

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

We've disallowed Google from searching OnDemand instances by default (AOD-5685), but with a downside: it's now impossible to add Team Calendars calendars to Google Calendars. Google returns an error: "Could not fetch the url because robots.txt prevents us from crawling the url."

This is documented here, the workaround is to add the following line to robots.txt:

      Allow: /rest/calendar-services/1.0/calendar/export/subcalendar/private/*

We should add this to OnDemand's robots.txt.

      Possible workaround:
Navigate to Confluence administration > Add ons > Team Calendars > Configure > uncheck Disable Private URLs. You will need to copy the URL again as it will change when you make the following change from public to private. Be aware authentication will not be required to access the URL.

          Form Name

zac.drake1217809479 Thanks for the update! I'm adding it as a possible workaround for those who don't mind making the URL public.

Figured it out. Confluence administration > Add ons > Team Calendars > Configure > uncheck Disable Private URLs

Could really use this. Any chance of a workaround that allows us to edit our own robots.txt in OnDemand?

Whoever is responsible for this at Atlassian: Have an other look at this! The fix seems to be fairly straight forward.

            Thanks,

This is required so that we can integrate our calendars easier... any word?

It appears that this does not work again, and it's only possible to subscribe to People's calendar and not a JIRA calendar.
