Widget Connector Can't view SlideShare embeds on Firefox and Chrome

      Steps to reproduce:
      • Go to a Confluence page, and insert a Widget connector from the insert menu.
      • Paste in the URL from SlideShare

If you are using Chrome, you will get an error to install Adobe Flash (even if you have it installed), and this happens on Windows, Linux, Mac.

[CONFSERVER-31901] Widget Connector Can't view SlideShare embeds on Firefox and Chrome

            Hello,

I do not see the issue as resolved.

            I am using Confluence 6.4.

I cannot see SlidShare presentations - they are blank on my page.

I can see the exact same issue on your guide to use the feature:

I ran into this problem today, and was able to embed a Slideshare presentation using the iframe embed instead of the widget connector, and changing the Slideshare embed URL from http to https.

            Hi benoit.st-andre

I just wanted to give an update on this issue. Specifically with regards to slideshare. As you're probably aware this problem arises when you try to include content in your pages that are not available over https. There are basically two solutions to this problem:

            • Alter your instance to use http rather than https
            • Update your browser settings to allow insecure content (http in an https page)
            • Alter the url of the content that you use to be https rather than http

The latter of these is the preferred approach. Unfortunately with Slideshare there is no option to use https as they do not seem to have a https version of their slideshows.

We're currently working on a better way of communicating this information via the widget connector.

            Regards

It is running over SSL. And actually, you (Atlassian Confluence doc) have the same issue (and you are running over SSL !) https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Widget+Connector+Examples#WidgetConnectorExamples-SlideShare

I tried with various Slideshare URLs, but even your own example in your examples doesn't work: http://fr.slideshare.net/jleyser/using-jira-greenhopper-for-agile-development-presentation

            Hi benoit.st-andre

Thanks for cloning this issue. Are you able to provide any example URLS that you are trying to connect to. Does your Confluence instance run under SSL?
