Contributors Plugin Timeout and Performance Problems on Pages

When using Contributors plugin with a lot of information, many users and many updates, it just times out.
It also can prevent the normal time from a Page, which could take up to 50 seconds to load.

The error that appears on the screen is:

Error: Rendering this content exceeded the timeout of 50 seconds.

PS: Is replicable on EAC.
