Remote API exceptions not coming back - obscured by HTML

      In most cases when the API throws an exception, what actualy comes back is some html from the container.
      this : http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/TIMTAM-67?page=comments#action_31849
      is an example ( see attached screen shot) but this happens all the time.
