1. Enable html macro
      2. Create simple user macro with rendered body with template: $body
      3. Create a page like this picture:
      4. Notice the text after the user macro will not display
        • the script tag and the end script tag get erroneously converted to a single script tag
        • a workaround is to insert a blank: ... > <script>

[CONFSERVER-30007] script tag in user macro messes up display

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on bugs with a higher impact, and more votes.

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.

I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If demand for this picks up, we will reopen the issue.

Good pointers. Yes, looks like something extra is happening in user macro rendering that shouldn't be.

I think this is closely related to a bug I filed recently
            https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-29968.. which was a duplicate of https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-28726

Point being that HTML rendered from a macro that is also wrapped in a macro renders differently than it would if the macro were by itself.

In addition to this is the problem discussed in an answers discussion where HTML being rendered from a user macro is stripped when called within another user macro.
            https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/178726/call-user-macro-inside-user-macro

            These all seems suspiciously related.
