Create space button macro does not work for users who don't have create space permission

When a user who does not have permissions to create a space (e.g. anonymous) views a page with a create space button macro, they get this error:

Error formatting macro: create-space-button: java.lang.RuntimeException: You can only store String and Renderable objects.
