    • Win2k server, with Mac OSX 10.2 and Firefox 1.0.1 (current version)

When you click to a space home page, it comes up completely blank. Viewing HTML source shows a page with no content.

[CONFSERVER-2831] Space page is blank on Mac Firefox browser

Looks like it was something weird stuck in Firefox's cache

OK- killing the settings files seems to fix the problem. This fix applies for both mac & pc. Re-installing the app doesn't work, as these preference files are kept.

The problem seems to be that the affected machines send back:
            Response Headers - http://jira.redant.com.au:XXXX/confluence/pages/listpages.action?key=ds
            Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate
            Pragma: no-cache
            Expires: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT
            Set-Cookie: confluence.browse.space.cookie=listpages; Expires=Mon, 27-Feb-2006 02:44:02 GMT; Path=/confluence
            Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8
            Content-Length: 0
            Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2005 02:44:02 GMT
            Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1

Note that the page is "listpages.action?key=ds"

whereas the machines that work fine go to "listpages-dirview.action?key=ds".

If you manually paste in the URL, the affected machines can see the page... so it appears to be something to do with a redirect? Perhaps this is just a weird firefox cache thing when changing over from 1.3 to 1.4, to do with the new space page style ??

Anyway- the fix you suggested has worked. Thanks for your help.

Also, on the Mac in question, try:

            • Creating another user, and seeing if that user has the same problem with Firefox and the Confluence site
            • If so, deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox and ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist for the effected user should restore Firefox to a virgin state, and may cause whatever is bothering it to go away.

I can't repeat the problem here either: leading me to suspect it's a problem with Firefox on that particular Mac, rather than Confluence.

Perhaps you could install the Web Developer plugin on that copy of Firefox, and use it to determine precisely what headers are being returned to the browser during the request? http://www.chrispederick.com/work/firefox/webdeveloper/

One other important bit of information- we've recently changed over from 1.3.1 to 1.4DR4. This problem was not occuring on either machine prior to this.

Didn't know there was a Firefoxt...

On the mac that has the problems, we are successful with:
            Safari 1.2.4
            Mozilla 1.4.1
            Netscape 7.1
But having this problem with FFox 1.0.1(current) and 1.0.

            Frustratingly, after further testing:
            1) we can't repeat this on another mac- exact same spec, running FF 0.8, then upgraded to 1.0.1 (both versions worked fine)
            2) can repeat the problem on a PC running XP, again running FFox 1.0.1

There seems to be nothing unusual in the server logs. We've checked out firefox plugins, to see if there was anything similar in configuration between the two machines, but with no luck.

Ignore the previous commenter. Confluence is written to work with FireFox - in fact, our developers test primarily in Firefox and Safari, and then check that it still works in IE.

Does the problem also occur in Safari?

Does anything weird appear in the server logs when you make the request?

Don´t use FireFoxt, as it has problems with many sites.
