Confluence's feature to send out e-mail notifications is very useful, but it may flood your mailbox, if someone is out of his office for a longer vacation.

At the moment there is no possibility to turn off all notifications at once. It would be really useful, if confluence had such a functionality.

            Hi John!

thanks for your response. I understand your arguments, but I have a slightly different opinion (who would have guessed that? .

I understand, why you won't implement it, but let me point out my rationale:

            2) I receive a lot of mails, and we have a lot of "high traffic" confluence pages, which I always unsubscribe manually before I go in vacation mode. This may result in a out of quota mailbox.

            1) And since I always have to prepare for my vacation asking people to cover for me for my out of office time, I have a detailled plan which also always ends in putting all those people into my out of office auto responder. Forgetting about this is not an option

            Kind Regards,
            Christian

            Hi Christian,

Thanks for taking the time to raise this one. It's quite an interesting idea and can see it's value, but not something I'd like to see us implement for two reasons:

            1. I'm not sure how many people would remember to use it (thinking of the number of times I've had to turn my "Out of Office" on at an airport ) and to turn it back on. As always, there are so many things we can do and only so little time to do them all and it would be hard to dedicate time to something like this that I think might struggle for usage.

            2. I think there's often a lot of value in having the history of notifications as something you can skim through when you get back from a vacation. You don't want to read every one in detail but it can point you to things that have been happening while you're away so you can jump into the page to get the current status.

For the times you are really swamped I guess it's pretty straight forward to do a filter from the sender and delete all when you arrive back nice and relaxed from your vacation.
