    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

When I add a note to a Task, the note is not shown anywhere else except for in the note box where it was entered.

      • No one else can see this note.
      • There is no history on this note.
      • The note is not shown on the Task list itself.
      • If the user assigned to the Task asks a question of the user who assigned the task, there is no way they would know about it. They get no notification, it is not displayed anywhere and they can't do a mention in the note to add a notification.
      • Even in workbox there is no indication that there is a note on any one of the tasks - you have to go to the note box to see it.

I would suggest that all note on the Tasks appear as note on the page (or in the comments section on the page), have the ability to do @mentions AND have a link back to the Task itself.

Yes it would be a great tool for task management when we have the possibility to comment tasks at other places than the source page of the task.

Please is there a plug in, add-on or app for this now or can script runner for confluence help? The ability for the user to add detail to the task is vital as a simple incomplete or complete status is insufficient for audit purposes

+1 to the request for (public) task notes please, to be easily added from anywhere where the task is displayed (i.e. original page, profile page or task report)

Other than marking as complete, it seems any task updates mean editing the original page - normally meeting notes from multiple workstreams, possibly from weeks ago. This is very cumbersome, especially when we are reviewing outstanding actions in a wrap-up meeting and wish to make updates immediately.

Yes, would like to be able to go to a page that has a task assigned to me, mark it as complete and add notes about what I've done. Would like those notes to be public and allow mentions. Essentially the same functionality as a page comment, just for a task.

Agreed - our team is editing the page to add notes to tasks when they are completed. This seems counter-productive for task managment, especially when the tasks are over multiple pages.

I agree with Jodie - comments and notes should be shared to make this a really useful feature.

Renamed issue to be more reflective

Hmm, Sherif, this is what I feared. It dawned on me this morning, that that is what you wanted the Notes feature to be - personal.

For me, this breaks Confluence. All this time, you have been telling us that sharing is good, share everything, comment on pages, have all comments out in the open, so everyone can be on the same page with what is happening - this is the Wiki way. Now you have the ability to have Private notes? Not good.

There is no point replicating a personal task list manger that people already have an app for - confluence is never going to be that for people. All Notes need to be made visible to whoever can see the tasks on that page. All tasks need to be made visible (as per https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-26615).

One example I can think of straight away is. I am assigned a task. I have a question about it. How do I do that currently?

            • I go to the page that the task is on - edit the page and add some notes after the task - which makes the page very messy and due to this bug https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-26786 reported yesterday, if you happen to @mention someone else on the same line as the Task, they won't get a notification, or
            • I go to the page and make a comment on the page - so the question is separated from the task, and I then get comments and replies back again separate from the task (and comments can be deleted), or
            • I email the person the question - hence taking the conversation out of Confluence, and back into the Inbox - exactly what you are trying to sell to us won't happen if we use 4.3.

I really really don't know how to "sell" this new Task list functionality to my clients. I feel that it is fundamentally broken .

Ahh, right that's your personal notes about the task.
I guess the real feature request is you want to be able to comment on a task that is assigned to you from a page?
What then would you expect to happen? Have a way to see the comments for tasks from the viewpage?

I'm guessing your use case is a status update on a task? Or you want to communicate the progress of the task?
