NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Create a new field in the user profile where the user can define his signature.

Users should be able to add their signature into a page or comment (using a macro?).

This feature would be similar to the one in mediawiki.

            [CONFSERVER-26308] User custom signatures

Shame, this is possible with Zendesk, would like to be able to add a standard signature line so as to have a consistent look with responses sent to requestors.

This was just requested by one of the moderators taking care about our attempt to use Confluence as a platform for wiki work. Quite unfortunate this was deemed to be not going to be considered for a future improvement in Confluence. (still here's my vote)

For what it's worth, adding my vote. Given the lack of a real production-worth solution to inline commenting (and no, the Talk plugin doesn't cut it), this is a key piece around which we could actually build a mediawiki-like low-tech but elegant solution.

Thanks anyway Alex and Sherif, this would have gone some way to making Confluence basically usable for developing content outputs.

Would be pretty neat, but can't see ourselves ever implementing this in the foreseeable future. We've got over 6,000 issues to implement, this sits way at the bottom of that list.
