To replicate, create a page like this:

      First line

      Second line

      Test Test

Click in the first heading in the table and then click the 'Align Center' button. Then use the keyboard to move the cursor to the second heading and click 'Align Center' again. Cursor will jump to the top of the page.

Confirmed using Safari, doesn't appear to happen in Firefox.

Thanks for the update fabbors882508983. This bug was specifically raised for Safari (and was fixed a while ago) so it's possible you're experiencing something completely different.

I took a quick look and found CONFSERVER-42914 - this might be what you're seeing. If that doesn't describe your experience then please contact our support team at getsupport.atlassian.com and the support team can verify it for you.

I'm using Internet Explorer 11.0.42 and Confluence Server 5.10.48 and find it really annoying that this hasn't been fixed yet.

kirschkuchen334119083 thanks for commenting - I just tested on the latest Confluence with Safari 10.1.1 and couldn't replicate it.

Using the above reproduction steps does the problem still happen? If so, what version of Confluence / Safari are you using?

Same for me. It drives my clients crazy and especially newbies get lost with this easily...

Can you please provide a fix?

            Hi Jiří,

We fixed the issue in Confluence 5.2. For Confluence 4.3.2 the work around is to use Firefox or Chrome, but note that support for 4.3.2 ended early 2015.

If Safari and IE use are important to you, your best bet is to upgrade to a more recent version. The list of currently supported versions can be found here: Atlassian Support Offerings

            Cheers,
            Michael

I figured out what the problem is: if you have the cursor somewhere in the text field, and then click in the menu somewhere "beside" a button, the cursor stops blinking. If you then hit the button correctly and for example add a picture or macro, it appears at the top of the page.
Thus, somehow the editor forgets where the cursor was if you click outside of the editor, but not on a menu button. Then whatever you insert appears on the top of the page. This is a bug in version 4.7 at least.

            Hi Henning

Are you still able to reproduce this issue in the latest version of Confluence, 5.1? Or are you still using a 4.x version of the application

            Thanks

The problem also happens if you insert a macro or a picture or links on the cursors position. Suddenly the new things appears on the very first position. Most of the time it works fine, in 5% of the cases the inserted piece appears on the top.
This Issue should be extended to reflect Firefox and IE9, too. And not only when aligning text but also when inserting things in the editor.

I think for some reason, when you click on menu functions outside of the editor confluence or IE9 "forgets" the cursor position. Confluence behaves as if you click on "Edit" a new more time. Click on edit, you will see that the cursor blinks on the very beginning.

            Please fix.
