Description
Steps to reproduce:
- Create a page
- Edit the page and insert a link e.g. https://confluence.atlassian.com/dosearchsite.action?queryString=confluenc*&where=CONFKB
- Linking does not work when the link contains *
Issue occurred in these browsers (as tested):
- Internet Explorer
- Chrome
- Firefox
As referred here: http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1738.txt
Usually a URL has the same interpretation when an octet is
represented by a character and when it encoded. However, this is not
true for reserved characters: encoding a character reserved for a
particular scheme may change the semantics of a URL.Thus, only alphanumerics, the special characters "$-_.+!*'(),", and
reserved characters used for their reserved purposes may be used
unencoded within a URL.
Workaround:
Replace * with %2A e.g. https://confluence.atlassian.com/dosearchsite.action?queryString=confluenc%2A&where=CONFKB and linking will work.
