The new editor only has Cancel button on the bottom/right. Previously there was extra set of buttons on the top/right to save a lot of mouse movement.

That's weird I can not reopen CONF-25182 which was answered only partially (about the Save button). So I am forced to open another bug...

[CONFSERVER-25376] Keyboard shortcut for Cancel while in the Editor

Thank you for raising this issue. While we can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now. Thanks again for your idea.

btw voronaam you might want to watch CONF-1632 which relates to your last comment.

Thanks for the extra info Aleksey!

While I can understand the frustration for you with having to move windows around, I don't think that is a very common thing for most people. There is so much keyboard interaction in the Editor I'd be reluctant to add a shortcut to something as potentially destructive as Cancel as well to be honest.

I'll leave this open to see if it gathers a lot of votes but I expect it is something I'll close in the future.

Thanks for raising, and also for your work in raising bugs!

btw, button "Save and continue editing" would solve the issue for me. And it will be useful in some other cases too. For example, I am working on a large aggregated document at the moment - making small edits to the same page after 10-15 time spent looking for proper information. Right now I am doing Save-Edit iterations fairly often with it.

Well, it is just with the new changes I started to do this. Basically what happens:
            1. I start editing some document, half-way through I notice a bug in the Editor
            2. I make a mental note and finish editing the page. Then I save it.
            3. Then I open the page to edit again and try to reproduce the bug I saw. Doing some of the same steps I did previously
            4. Then I need to cancel those edits.

I opened quite a few tickets for bugs already, all of them were reproduced this way. As a developer myself I know that there is nothing worse than a bug "I did something and something wrong happened", so I try to come up with reliable reproduction first. Most of the time I can't find it, so I just hit the "Cancel" to cancel my meaningless changes made while investigating the bug.

It is such an issue for me because I have a small Always-On-Top monitoring window in the lower-right part of the screen, which prevents me from hitting the Cancel link. Well, I still can do it after some moving windows around, but it is inconvenient.

            Hi alekseyg

Sorry, I closed your last ticket on the assumption it was a shortcut for Save that you wanted, not specifically Cancel.

I'm interested in how often you find yourself in the editor to create or edit a page but then want to quickly Cancel? Is there something you do that makes this workflow come up often?

btw, as a workaround, you can tab 4 times which will focus on the Cancel button.

Look forward to hearing from you.

            John
