As of Confluence 4.2 there is a new feature which allows users to label attachments in Confluence. In order to add these labels one needs to navigate to the attachments section of a page an add them there. A user should also be able to specify a label when they are initially adding the attachment to the page. This could be accomplished in the UI of the standard 'Insert attachment' screens as well as implemented as a popup for when people add attachments using the 'drag and drop' option.

[CONFSERVER-25055] Add ability to label attachments as they are added

            I fourth this request.

As it currently stands, it is a hassle to go back and label the attachments. I tried John's suggestion for the Attachment macro and it doesn't work anymore

In 5.7, the Attachments macro lets you filter the displayed attachment by that macro. It'd be really nice if you could apply that same label to any file a user uploads using the same macro.

            I second this request.

I use the picture gallery together with labels in order to be able to have multiple different galleries on one page.
However while I can easily upload all images at once using drag and drop, it takes a lot of work to label them.

For 9 images e.g. that means 27 clicks + 27 keystrokes (in my case), as opposed to 1 click + 3 keystrokes (if labels were attached to the upload form).

As a partial answer to this, if you have an Attachment Macro on a page that is showing a subset of the pages attachments using a filter(s) then uploading by using the macro will attach the same labels to it that are being used to filter.
