Link Text not editable when editing a link to an attachment

When you select edit on an existing attachment link using the Editor Property Panel the Link Text field is uneditable in the Insert Link dialogue box. If you are editing a link via the Editor Properties Panel you should be able to change the Link Text.

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Edit a Page
      2. Select Insert -> Attachment -> Choose File
      3. Upload a file and enter some link text
      4. Click Save
      5. Click on the inserted attachment link in the Editor and select Edit from the Property Panel
      6. The Link Text field is uneditable and you are unable to change the Link Text

To then be able to change the link text you have to delete the link to the attachment, select insert attachment again, search for the file you've already uploaded and then you can enter the revised link text. Which is a bit of a kludge.

[CONFSERVER-24017] Link Text not editable when editing a link to an attachment

This has been fixed in 4.1, which is due out very soon.

BTW, so far as I can tell you cannot edit the link text in any case. Doesn't have to be a link to an attachment. No link text is editable.

Please fix this design deficiency. You have no idea how irritating it is to have to re-enter text I have already entered. Deficiencies such as these are why I tell people that Confluence 4.0 is for folks who loved typewriters. Sorry to be so sarcastic, but you used to be a great product.

This is definitely a bug. The workaround I use to avoid having to reinsert the attachment is to

            1. place my cursor inside the link text
            2. type the new text
            3. remove the old text that is before and after the new text

Still annoying but hopefully a better solution than having to insert the attachment again until we have fixed this bug.

I am getting this same behavior in other links as well. Link Text is not editable when I create a link within a panel. If I type the link text in the panel, select it, and then create the link, the selected text shows up. But if I open the link macro dialog without selecting text, the Link Text field is uneditable. I am using Confluence OnDemand in a trial license.

Just tried again on 4.1-m5-r2, same behaviour.
