Save can fail and cause loss of work

Sometimes after editing, I click on the "Save" button and I get the error:

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /wiki/pages/doeditpage.action.
Reason: Error reading from remote server

I'm a newbie on this, so I can't tell you what's going on exactly. However, I do have this suggestion:
please kick off an AUTO SAVE before doing the save requested by the user. In that way, if the save fails, the auto save will prevent loss of data. The Auto Save feature has helped me recover some of my lost work at times, but often not all of it.

I know we're running an older version (3.2), so I don't know if this have been fixed yet.
