notification: distinguish between page changes / new comments / comment edits

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Please make it possible to sign up for notification of page changes ONLY. Or page changes and new comments, but not comment edits. I received a flurry of email messages from a user editing their comments multiple times, and I don't really care about that.

(Or get "notification batching" working so that multiple notifications of activity are not sent.)

I would love if we could control the type of events we watch. Currently watching pages in our environment provides a lot of spam that users are very unhappy with. We are torn between not having users watch pages at all (in which case they are not aware of comments on their pages or responses to their comments, etc) and using the auto-watch plugin which allows automatic watching of pages contributed to but this then results in far too much spam. If we could control the types of activities that trigger a watch notification we would be in great shape (really we just want to watch comments, not all page or comment edits).
