It would be nice to extend the support of Office Connector to include OpenOffice 3.x and 2.x and Exported documents to be able to be opened in Open Office.

            [CONFSERVER-17391] Adding support for OpenOffice

            Hi Commenters of this issue,

It appears that Atlassian's Confluence has support for OO 3.x (and this issue is resolved). https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-39181 is in here as having superseded this issue and is for OO 4.x support. It would be best to up-vote that issue and comment in there.

            Cheers,

Brooke (not from Atlassian but an early commenter in this)

This is another point missing in Atlassian Confluence, where I am completely clueless why Atlassian is doing absolutely nothing in this direction for 10 years now. I once thought about Atlassian as an innovative company, but the feature set is stuck in the '00s. I know, Atlassian is far away in down under, but there are other continents (for example Europe) where it is mandatory in many countries for companies to use OPEN document formats, e.g. when dealing with governments as a contractor.
So we have to use ODF for business, but our own Confluence wiki is handling this format as some sort of an unknown binary.
Come on! ODF is is an well documented OASIS standard even Microsoft Office is supporting it since 2007.
I cannot imagine that we are the only company who need an integration in Confluence, not only in the connector, but especially in the confluence pages that it will be possible to include this documents in pages and be able to preview them (ODT/ODS/ODP).

Maybe it is time to consolidate those Opne/Libre Office and OpenDocument-related tickets.

What is really needed is not only connector support for Open/Libre Office support for the latest version but also internal Confluence support so that ODT/ODS files can be visualised on Confluence pages.

We have supported OpenOffice 2.x and 3.x for a few years. If you are looking for OpenOffice support for 4.x please see the linked issue.

I think the description could be updated by talking about OpenDocument format, which is supported by LibreOffice and OpenOffice, and also Microsoft Office. It is not really a mater of OpenOffice specifically...

I would think this would help pull additional users away from Sharepoint. A tight integration with an open source editor, where all formatting made in the doc would show up in confluence.

Very strange that Atlassian still did not support OpenOffice. Ideally would like to export in Word format so that it was fashionable to open the files in Open / LibreOffice I think
Are you work on this issue?
Today I was amazed that such a simple task as uploading a file in Word format perverted as they could. As I understand MSWord file compatibility with openoffice is not planned. We do not use Microsoft production. So do so that we could work with your product.

Seams obvious that Confluence must support ODF format...

At the moment, Confluence not supporting the Open Document Format for Office Applications (ODF) (standard in Libre Office and Open Office and supported by Microsoft Office) is a showstopper in our office.
This standard is widley used and mandatory for document exchange with many government or military entities around the world, see:

I would also be happy if Confluence supports Open Document format.
