Add Ability to add Electronic Signature to Confluence Pages

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Please add the ability to Electronically "Sign" confluence pages.

My organization is using confluence for requirements management, and we are struggling to find a way to capture sign-offs when the requirements are complete.

This could be accomplished with a new plugin that adds a new "Add Digitally Signature" option to the tools menu and a "Remove Digital Signature" option if you've already signed. Also an accompanying macro to display digital signatures would be useful that either shows all digital signatures, or a signature for a particular user. It would also be nice to set what users must sign a page.

Atlassian Status as of 29th February 2016

We do not have any plans to implement this in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations correctly, we're closing this request now.
There are a number of Marketplace add-ons which provide this functionality.
Thank you for your votes and comments on this issue, along with your ongoing patience.

[CONFSERVER-17148] Add Ability to add Electronic Signature to Confluence Pages

Atlassian, this needs to be re-considered (again) for Jira CLOUD. There are options for the server but those do no good if you have the CLOUD version. Please re-open this ticket again for consideration.

Erin Jones (DocuSign), please consider extending your add-on to be available in the CLOUD.

lorettarinaldi from the link provided Comala Workflows and Page Approval were the 2 i had in mind, both of which are for Confluence.
These may not be the exact solution suggested in the ticket description, but provide the means of implementing a workflow/approval process.

I only saw 2 products that produce electronic signatures and they are both for Jira. Anything for Confluence?

This doesn't seem like a high priority for you (over 3 years in your backlog) but I think with some good developer hints, this would be doable as a community effort.

Can we get some developer hints here: how to get the current user and timestamp info and how to store it? Are there any code examples we could synthesize the solution from?

FYI we want to use this signature for inline notations - visually, imagine notes that record who added the note and when. Much like Mediawiki's inline commenting facility.

We have just started a pilot project with Confluence, and our QA department is asking about adding digital signatures.

Please move ahead with this plugin! There is a need for this with any ISO style use of Confluence for documentation

I was thinking about something like this too.
I was thinking the macro itself would track who had signed it so that you could have multiple points of signing on one page. You could use this a bit like the vote macro only the voters would show their approval for something.

It wouldn't have to actually use any cryptography technology to digitally sign, since Confluence already knows who the current user is. It would just need to store a list of who had signed. This could be stored in bandana or a content property. Obviously xsrf protection would be essential.
