I'm currently migrating lots of documentation into Confluence and it would be nice with a macro for automatic link creation (e.g. to external API documentation).

Basically I would like some way for me to decorate class names that would make them links to the MSDN-style documentation generated by NDoc (which uses a well defined naming convention for the html files, and is thus an ideal target for a macro of some sort).

It would also be nice if I could define link keywords, i.e. words that will always be converted to a link (with no additional formatting in the page source).

If confluece implemented this feature it would be the single most important feature in confluence.  I work in a engineering/technology firm and one of the biggest issues is that on ever single page we have to over explain every little detail because even though we have built a dictionary of sort, setting up all of the links to it is super tedious.  It would also be nice to add an option that if the linked page has a TLDR or equivelent that could be displayed as a popup.

Hi, I've created a very similar request, CONF-32373, before finding this this one. This is exactly what we also would like to do. Has anybody found any solution/plugin?

            Cheers

            Hello,

Just wanted to confirm why is it not possible to implement arbitrary word linking (ex. link to the page within the space whose title is same as the word in current page's text)? Large sites like Wikipedia do it. Is this because we have to deal with granular permissions as well?

Appreciate your clarification, so I can provide a reasonable explanation to customers who expect this feature as basic requirement in a wiki.

            cheers,

            Neeraj

Automatic linking if a page exists with the same name as a word in the text is a very handy feature and one of key reason why wikis are so successful. Different people add pages and text and cross-linking just happens. This feature is certainly available in PukWiki and FSWiki. We should go beyond CamelCase linking..Another problem with CamelCase it may not work in languages where there is no concept of Capital letters, like Japanese language. How should we handle that?

A customer was asking for the automatic linking of words or terms that appear in a page if the word or term also happens to be the name of an existing page in that space.

For example, if I say: "We need more documentation on this." and if a page called "documentation" already exists in that space, then Confluence will automatically highlight and link the text "documentation" to that existing page?
