Create new group for administering billing info section

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, the 'site-admins' group is used for the user management module. However, there are use cases, where clients would like to allow access to just managing users and groups, or just managing the billing section of the module. In these cases, the ability to have 2 separate groups that control each function would be needed.

[COMMERCE-71] Create new group for administering billing info section

Cant't believe only 480 people need this feature.

It is just such a basic thing.

No it is isn't, from the link you provided

The billing administrator role provides superuser permissions, and access to all billing and invoice related tasks.

We want a billing administrator that only gets access to all billing and invoice related tasks, not the additional superuser roles too

Sorry to see I just missed wishing this issue a Happy 9th Birthday.   You've grown into a nice looking gathering interest suggestion just like your many siblings here at jira.atlassian.com.   Hopefully your parents will begin to pay some needed attention to you, but just know there are 454 people as of today that are in your corner.

Sorry to see Atlassian so openly disregards it's customers opinion.

This issue is a direct violation of the least-privileged-access principle, not to mention it's a headache for that poor chap in the finance dept who does not use any Atlassian product but keeps receiving mails about his access being deactivated because he does not use the products.

This is an unbelievably lame lapse of security for a supposedly enterprise-grade piece of software used by thousands.  If it were up to me I'd switch to another product.

Please add this feature. Technically, we cannot state that we follow the principle of least privileged access without excluding finance people until this feature is added. It's a matter of security.

Surprised that a product centered around security in the IT space doesn't contain this feature by default.

Cannot believe this is from 2014. In our case is not a matter of pricing, we just dont want to grant admin access to someone from our Finance department in order to lower the risk of damages to our data.

            Atlassian team,

Please can you take afresh look at this? RBAC is a standard approach to allow appropriate access to the resources different user groups require in order to do their jobs.

Like the comments before this, billing tasks (checking invoices, updating payment details, auditing number of licenses and products etc) is typically the role of someone in the finance team. However granting them site-admin type access is clearly not a sensible solution for most organizations. Conversely, the site-admin's time isn't always best spent trying to gather and interpret specific information for the finance team.

There is a consistent stream of interested clients here... What does it take to get this into your build queue?

            Thanks!
