Thanks for mentioning this here.
The current workaround would be to define the non-ssl location of the plugin like so:

grails install-plugin http://plugins.grails.org/grails-clover/trunk/grails-clover-3.0.0.zip

Could you please also mail the grails user mailing list with this problem and see if there are any better suggestions for having the problem fixed?
AFAICT, this is a grails specific problem, and not necessarily a Clover plugin problem? I may however me be wrong here.

I see a similar issue when installing webflow on MacOS X 10.6.3 with jdv 1.6:

I couldn't reproduce this problem on windows Vista, running JDK 1.6 .

In case of SSL problems, the clover plugin is also available from: http://plugins.grails.org/grails-clover/tags/
Therefore, the following will install version 0.2 of the plugin:

grails install-plugin http://plugins.grails.org/grails-clover/tags/RELEASE_0_2/grails-clover-0.2.zip
