Jira Software, Jira Service Management
Summary
If a user has a large Jira production site, during a sandbox copy they may run into a generic error message that results in a failed copy:
Unable to copy some data You can try to copy data from production to sandbox again...
There is no documented limitation on sandbox import size: Sandbox limits.
Current Workaround
- Atlassian Support needs to review the internal logs:
message: Archive for manifest file mpri:file:org:<org-id>:<file-id> with size X gb exceeds limit 10 gb
- Atlassian Support then needs to apply a feature flag to bypass the limit during the import
Recommendation
- Automating the disabling of the import limit to allow larger customers to copy data from production to sandbox
- Provide a clearer error message if the sandbox copy failed due to size limit
