As a user, I would like to have summary information displayed on the repository page

    • We collect Bitbucket feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

It would be feasible to have the summary information displayed on the repository page. Same like what gitweb provides as you can from the following screenshot:

Hi Roger. Yes, I do understand that the default URL logic. The feedback I've been getting from our engineering managers, though, is that they don't want their text-heavy engineers getting "lost" in a GUI .

Hopefully it will be possible to do something about this in the future.

            Thanks.

Hi Philip, you are correct, the URLs are displayed per-protocol. One thing that may help here is that the URL displayed by default is selected based on whether the logged in user has set up a user SSH key.

The key requirement here is to have the access URLs listed out and not just visible through the drop-down protocol menu. If that is something that is going to be problematic because not everybody wants it then a couple of options occur to me:

            1. Make it a tickbox option.

            2. Provide a way for administrators to include arbitrary text (not the same as the README) which would then allow me to meet the need that way.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your comment, Roger, the AUI interface still only displays the URLs on the protocol dropdown.

            Thanks.

I thought we had a request similar to this, but couldn't find one, so I'm opening this up.

It is most likely when we do this that we'll model the layout and content on the repository overview in Bitbucket (eg https://bitbucket.org/atlassian/aui).

The reason why this is being asked for is to minimise any disruption that would be caused by migrating from gitweb. The challenge is that our engineers work almost entirely in the command line so clicking on buttons like "Clone" in order to see the URLs isn't an intuitive step for them. Having the summary panel display all of the possible URLs makes is easier for them to copy & paste them.
