      Original request description

This is a follow up to issue STASH-3314 that was closed. In that issue Jens Schumacher said that the reason why multiline comments were not added is because in Crucible it was very hard to select actual code, with what I agree, but I would like to suggest an improvement.

Why not make it that way that when you select code, it regulary selects text as it is now in Stash, but if you would like to leave a comment on multiple lines, you click on the line numbers on the left of the code. This would make it the best of both worlds.

I don't want to sound rude, but I think I will.... How is it possible that this is not done? (I use Cloud, not Data Center), I came from GitHub and it has this since a long time, multi line comments, multi line suggestions, etc... how is it possible that Bitbucket does not have it? it is super basic for a normal dev workflow...

In the age of interactive bots - where an AI has created the PR, reading PR comments, and making adjustments, this will soon be a showstopper.
A human may be able to easily understand what a single line comment is referring to, but for something that is sending to GPT on the backend, explicitly scoping the lines to address is required.

I don't think there ever is going to be anything done about this. So all you guys posting comments here are wasting your time.

This shows how much Atlassian cares about your requests and ideas. Poor company with poor standards.

A basic requirement is still open since 2013. Shows how much Atlassian cares for its customers. Free software such as Gerrit has this feature since ages.

Data Center is basically Server with more features. This still applies to Bitbucket Data Center.

Voted. Any update since 2016? Looks like this is currently the 4th top voted feature in Bitbucket Server.

We’re simplifying our self-managed offerings and sharpening our focus to our cloud and Data Center products. This means we’ve discontinued new feature development in our server product line.

Guys, would you mind voting on the issue with the voting feature at the top right instead of these useless comments that force me to unwatch the issue to avoid constant email spam? Thanks.
