      Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone for voting and commenting on this suggestion. Your input in the comments helps us understand how this affects you and what you're hoping to accomplish with Bitbucket Server.

This suggestion is a priority for the Bitbucket development team and is on our roadmap, however we're not able to provide a timeline for when it will be resolved. We have an implementation of emoji support that needs further refinement before it is production-ready. Learn more about our process here.

      Cheers,

      Norman Ma

      Product Manager - Bitbucket Server

We have on-prem Bitbucket v6.1.3 and I still see  `:blossom:` in commit messages, not emojis.  Does this require an add-on?  Is it not supported on the on-prem version?

Bitbucket 5.0 has been released with Emoji support. It supports the standard smileys, the twemoji set of emojis and Hipchat emojis (including custom emojis) if Hipchat is integrated with Bitbucket Server

We are evaluating GitLab vs Bitbucket Server and emoji go a long way in comments and also as reactions to comments. It might seem superficial and cosmetic but it is also adding a visual element to communication. Communication between colleagues is the main reason we are evaluating a WebApp solution to sit on top of our Git server.

We are currently evaluating Bitbucket Server against TFS and GitLab, and while it seems small, for a team coming from GitHub, the lack of emoji support in BitBucket Server comments is definitely a point against.

The emojis in jira are def lacking. We need to improve this to include all Apple and Android emojis.

This ticket says "wider support" for emoticons. Does that mean bitbucket server already has some emoticons that can be used?

Emoji may seem like a small bit, but it reflects how social & human an SCM platform is.

            Hi mkorich,
What do you mean by "confluence-like" markdown support. Are you looking for custom Markdown extensions, or an option to use Confluence's wiki markup (which has been removed as of Confluence 4).

            Regards,
            Seb
