Feature to create repository backups and available for download

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, Bitbucket Cloud does not have a feature for users to take backups of their repository.
The method which users can use now is to perform a clone of their repository as a form of Backup.

      Suggested Solution

Have a feature like a backup manage where backup of the repositories gets created and stored for a certain number of day. Users have the ability to download these backups when they would like to. The backups can be cleared or overwritten with new backups every interval of certain number of days.

The Bitbucket Cloud backup feature request has been gaining quite a bit of attention. It’s surprising to see such a fundamental feature still missing, especially given the strong demand. For those who enjoy optimizing their experience, platforms like online casinos can offer a great way to unwind. If you’re in the mood for some fun, check out Slotier. It has a solid selection of games that can help you relax and take your mind off technical frustrations.

Hi, this is a feature that we would also very much like to see implemented.

@Gayatri Ramesh, you wrote in May that you would sync back in a few months about this issue. Is there any update (it's been 6 months since you posted).

            Thanks!

This is an interesting idea but not currently on the roadmap - the team is working on upgrading our infrastructure and repository archival among other projects. I'll keep an eye on this page and sync back in a few months to update on the status of repository backups.

+1 Please implement this feature ASAP along with

            https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BCLOUD-19817

Surprising nothing has been done about it for over 2.5 years
Can an update be given about the potential timeline for its implementation?

            Good morning everyone,

I am also in this dilemma, I need to find a way to make backups of Bitbucket codes and projects. However, I did not find anything that would meet our need.

Peter, I also used SCM Backup because it was the only option I found when I was researching it a while ago but as you said, in fact it is very limited, including, I don't know if I didn't understand it, but the backup SCM does not save the project files, right? in this case I refer to the sources of the codes, these are only in my Workspace?

            Best regards,

            Vinicius.

I have been asking for some way to backup all our repos since we moved to Bitbucket Cloud from another platform.  It seriously hard for me to believe that Atlassian doesn't provide this.

Telling us "**Bitbucket Cloud is backed up regularly by Atlassian" is fine, but it's not an ultimate answer.  Neither is "Git is a distributed version control system."  Atlassian will restore stuff for us if Atlassian can and wants to under the circumstances. I have a clone of a repo, IF I happen to have a clone of that repo in a state that I need it.

The suggested solution (of having a downloadable backup available) would meet our needs nicely. If the provided backup image is just a zip/rar of the collected repos that we could just grab and apply as required, we wouldn't need any particular "restore" feature.  We could just restore to a local repo and push it.

I'd even welcome a programmable way to request a downloadable backup file be created, and then download it via a chron job or whatever.

Right now, we're using the [SCM Backup Tool|https://github.com/christianspecht/scm-backup] which is all well and good, but it has some limitations.

Puleeeez can we get a backup facility?

pmahendran+atlassian_conflict Does this feature assume that Bitbucket Cloud will also have a "Restore" feature such that you can take a backup and overwrite a repository that you have in Cloud?
