Bamboo currently has good support for sending various notifications to HipChat.

Now that Atlassian's Stride is on the scene, it would make sense for Bamboo to support similar notifications to this new chat service as well.

            Atlassian Update – [27 July 2018]

            Hi everyone,

Thank you for your votes and thoughts on this issue.

We believe the best way forward for our customers and for Atlassian is to enter into a strategic partnership with Slack and no longer offer our own real-time communications products. See full announcement here.

To learn more on how your suggestions are reviewed, see our updated workflow for server feature suggestions.

            Kind regards,

            Bamboo Team

neoscorpe yes the timing here was not fortunate. At the moment of defining FY19 roadmap Bamboo team was not aware of this strategic decision.
Also as you might expect from organisation of Atlassian size such decisions are communicated to all employees at the very late stage.

This is truly astounding. 10 days after announcing they'll "prioritise Stride notifications on Bamboo roadmap", Atlassian completely abandons Stride.

Seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Now, I'm making some assumptions saying this, but:

I think we do good to consider that the Stride Development/Management Team and the Bamboo Development/Management are likely two separate groups of people (and likewise with JIRA/BitBucket). With this in mind, these latter folks may have had no influence of when, and bearing what features, HipChat is being forcibly replaced with Stride. This means their existing plugin instantly becomes obsolete and new work is automatically piled onto the Backlog which doesn't create any cool new features, it just restores a pretty elaborate existing one. Being a developer myself, I know that scenario would be extremely frustrating to me.

This all being said, I hope the launch of Stride happened in coordination and cooperation with these other teams, and I hope the Stride team is prioritizing support for their fellow Atlassian colleagues.

I'd love to hear from someone at Atlassian whether this is close to or far from the truth.

Thank you for the follow-up, Krystian. I hope to hear another update soon.

One of the most compelling reasons we use Atlassian products here is because of their integration with each other. We started with JIRA, years ago. That soon led to using Confluence, too. Then we started using HipChat instead of Google chat/hangouts... then replaced svn with BitBucket... then replaced Hudson with Bamboo... and each step of the way, a big motivation was the ability to have better connections between the information in each of these systems.

After careful consideration, we've decided to prioritise Stride notifications on Bamboo roadmap.

It's amazing that something like this needed "careful consideration". It's should have been a no-brainer right from the start. Or maybe Atlassian doesn't have a lot of faith in Stride....

Expect to hear an update on our progress within the next 6 months.

So it'll more than 12 months since Stride was launched, and there still won't be Bamboo integration? Incredible.
