Provide HTTP(S) authentication method option for Bitbucket Server type repository so that instances without SSH connection get the benefits of Stash and Bamboo integration.

This feature would be very useful for the full ecosystem to work over 1 protocol and also manage services, efficiently, which is not the case, currently.

james_m_brown I am afraid you don't understand it correctly. This is Bamboo's issue and as it is stated in description Bamboo doesn't provide http(s) method to connect to BitBucket server.

Am I understating correctly that https is not supported?
I ask because https is enabled on the server connection and the clone url for http actually shows https.
Your customers need to know immediately if this is actually https or if it is actually http. If it is only http, your paying customers deserve to know so that we can adequately mitigate this security vulnerability as people are transmitting source code over an insecure connection.

Any update on this? We're currently having to use the Git integration as we're not in a position to start offering SSH access, which isn't ideal as we don't get any of the Bitbucket Server integration features.

I came to this issue via a Bitbucket setup page. Though the HTTPS issue here is about Stash, does the same apply to Bitbucket? For our local Bitbucket server, we are using HTTPS and disabled SSH. Please confirm that we need to enable SSH.

tbomfim - thanks for the thorough treatment, much appreciated.

            Hello sopel1

I raised STASH-7778 and our tech writer should look into this issue soon.

Thanks for raising and discussing this and I am sorry for the delay in replying to you.

tbomfim - Sander Verschuren rightfully pointed out that the current documentation for Integrating Bamboo with Stash does not mention the limitation at hand:

I still think this should be more explicit on the documentation page. Now it seems that you only have to add the Application Link to be able to add a Stash repository. But in fact you need to add the Application Link AND enable SSH on Stash.

Is it possible to add a resp. note to the documentation to spare other users the trouble until HTTP(S) authentication is available?

            Thanks much!

This bug plus BAM-12228 means that Stash integration doesn't work at all in Bamboo Cloud.
