Allow access to the import/Export functionality for Bamboo Cloud

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, creating exporting in Bamboo OnDemand / Cloud is not possible. This would be useful for users to allow them to migrate to BTF easily.
This would also help customers who want peace of mind backups.

Customers can also currently not import from BTF to OnDemand / Cloud. Could both of these features be bundled in one importer/exporter plugin?

[BAM-13079] Allow access to the import/Export functionality for Bamboo Cloud

            Hi,

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Given the Bamboo Cloud EOL going forward we have added option to allow exporting your instance for the purpose of migration to Bamboo Server.

            Regards,

I really don't understand why this feature is restricted. It is in the product but not on the cloud version...
This would save us a lot of time migrating between instances.

Seriously? Come on, there must be a way to dump all the build configurations to an XML like Jira.... We have hundreds of hours of work tied up in our build environment, we need to be able to backup and restore all that work.

Imagine online Office without Save option. That's exactly what Bamboo cloud is without backup option. I discovered 3 hours ago that there is no way to backup configuration and I am still shocked.

Come on guys - creating a backup is core functionality, not having the option is a gaping hole in the product.

We try to keep as much of the build configuration as possible in our build scripts, but it is impossible to avoid that the Bamboo configuration becomes non-trivial. To minimize the risk we make manual backups of our instance startup scripts, but it would still take us a long time to reconfigure everything in we were to lose or break our configuration.
The locally installed version of Bamboo seems to have automatic/scheduled backups. That would be a really nice feature for Bamboo OnDemand too.

This functionality will also allow a customer with Bamboo to migrate to a different OD instance. It's also necessary for changing OnDemand URLs as currently the process requires a new instance creation and migration.
