Ability to sort on all columns in User Management screen

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

We just got back the "Last Login" information about users as part of AOD-7019. The main reason we need the Last Login information is that we want to be able to know which user(s) are no longer using JIRA or Confluence, so we can free up licences.

The problem we have now is that it is not possible to have the list of the users ordered by their last login, which would help sorting out the ones that we want to revoke licences.

Being able to sort by clicking on the columns would help a lot to accomplish this task.

      Workaround

Export the users to CSV and sort in the exported file.

[AX-232] Ability to sort on all columns in User Management screen

Given that this should be such an easy facility to provide, then I'm sure the only conclusion people can reach is that this is a cynical way of making it difficult to find users who could be removed.

The ability to sort users in User Management by last activity is so basic. You have the capability elsewhere though out Jira and Confluence, but not here.

Clearly set up in the way it is so we forget about users and keep our license count high.

            Good old Atla$$ian

+1 ... thanks for the post and the comments. Is there any plan around this as it is still "gethering interest" - it would be very helpful to do this via UI still instead of export, etc.

As Gregory Nash points out the reason this feature languishes through several UI updates and user/account changes is almost certainly because it would reduce revenue.

I have been a daily Jira user for over 10 years and it remains a best in class application. In that time though I've learned that Atlassian is a pretty cynical company. They slow roll popular feature requests which are unattractive (to them), they create new product lines for previously included functionalities and most annoyingly they use a 'highest common denominator' approach to app subscriptions (making many quality of life apps unaffordable for small teams within a large organisation/instance). Anyway... the core product is still great so what can you do, them's the breaks.

Is it possible that it's not the difficult of the implementation that's causing the delay but the realization that this feature will reduce their revenue? Perhaps, instead of complaining about how easy it would be to implement this feature, we should be encouraging our colleagues to vote for the issue.

I cannot believe this basic feature hasn't been implemented yet.

Even a non-programmer like me knows this is possibly is easily implemented with dataTable jquery plugin, or something similar. Our intern developer says she can implement this in less than 5 minutes. Like Normand stated, unless one has been living under a rock, these things are EXTREMELY basic and literally no programming effort involved to implement. SMH.

I don't know in which world you live at Atlassian, but in 2017, ALL Web grids have the possibility to sort by clicking on the header... Another anoying pain that could be resolved in a few minutes by any developer worth this title. Sad.

            Hi everyone,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, we don't have plans to implement this feature. Currently there is no way of sorting via user activity in the UI. Instead, we suggest doing an export in a CSV format and manually sorting offline.

            Regards,

Hell yes. I'm feeling like in my first web application c.a. 1998 in that screen.

Also add the ability to sort by e-mail domain name (as there is no separate field for "company" or "department").
