To-do lists (checkboxes) / action items / checklists in text fields via automation

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Recently, Jira introduced Actions in the Description and Comments field sections, functioning as outlined in the "Introducing Action Items in Jira" documentation.

This feature currently requires user interaction—specifically pressing the space bar—to activate. However, when triggered via automation, it behaves as if the content is merely copied and pasted, lacking the necessary "space bar" action to convert the text into Markdown formatting.

The request here is to enhance this functionality to operate effectively through automation, thereby assisting customers in automating their action tasks within issues.

It definitely is a Bug when trying to clone an issue as mentioned here:

AUTO-1612 - Clone action clones an issue with Action items converted into Bullet list

When cloning a sheep, you want a sheep, not a billy goat.

+1... Sometimes you dont want to create subtasks in a standard issue for items that realistically dont need to be tracked but we want to identify the actions as a to do list within the standard task. Benefits especially more towards using project management.

I think this is more like a bug than a suggestion.

+1 ... ooo realized there's now a Vote feature on the right hand side, so no need to do the +1 style commenting to vote anymore?! Yes?
