'There was a problem granting user access to Application' error if Group defined in Global Permissions does not exist

      If the Group which is configured in the Global Permissions of an app does not exist, trying to grant them access shows the following error:

      'There was a problem granting the user <Username> access to Application. You may wish to try the operation again'

      This does not inform the admin why this occurs, thus it's not easy to find the exact reason.

      How to Fix

      1. Go the Global Permissions of the Affects Application
      2. Check the group added which can log in ('JIRA Users' global permission for JIRA and 'Can use' permission for Confluence
      3. Create this group
      • You can now grant access without errors
