Issue Summary
A few users are completely unable to use Confluence Search after their site’s migration to cloud.
Steps to Reproduce
- Add around 1600 groups to a user
- Now try performing searches on confluence or use macro on pages that perform search like "Recently Updated" macro or "Contributors" macro
Expected Results
The user should be able to search across Confluence where he has permission.
Actual Results
The user gets 0 search results and gets the below errors on the pages where macros that perform searches (like "Recently Updated" macro or "Contributors" macro), are used.
com.atlassian.confluence.search.v2.InvalidSearchException: com.atlassian.confluence.api.service.exceptions.SSStatusCodeException: There was an illegal request passed to XP-Search Aggregator API : HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
The below exception is thrown in the log file:

Workaround
Until the issue is fixed, we recommend removing the user from many groups (that are not needed or are redundant), in order to make the search work.
