Motivation:
If the Confluence Administration General Configuration switch CamelCase Links is switched ON
all CamelCase words are treated as links.
For some words this implicite linking is not wanted. E.g. TrackBack
The new feature is a possiblity to suppress the implicite linking for some words.
In my mind came 2 solutions:
A) An extension of the Confluence markup language that suppresses the link generation:
A1) for a word: a prefix like \
A2) for a span of text: text delimited by
B) In Index for each space where all the CamelCase words of its pages are managed.
There you can switch on/off for which words the link generation should happen.
Maybe even all the pages for CamelCase words should be created here, instead of inside the pages.
My favorite is solution B as you have a single point of control for a word. So if you later decide it makes sense to link e.g. BackLink to a page that describes it, you dont have to touch the pages with this word.
