It should be possible to add custom field options to the SOAP RPC interface

It should be also possible to retrive field options through SOAP/XML-RPC API.

I am glad this is Major priority because I think you need it in order to be able to justify your marketing. On the front page of JIRA, there are four main features you are using in the sales pitch, and one is "An application platform - Customise and extend JIRA's functionality with other systems like email, RSS, Excel, XML and source control. ". We bought this platform thinking it would be able to do that, but now we find that it cannot actually communicate with our existing system. Sure, we can pass issues in and out, but we cannot update the custom field options.

I am going to try and find a workaround using this:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/How+to+create+a+new+Custom+Field+Type

...but I don't know if it will be possible.
