The documentation (http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/v3.4.2/querysyntax.html?clicked=jirahelp) states:

Note: The NOT operator cannot be used with just one term. For example, the following search will return no results:
NOT "atlassian jira"

I would like this to not be true. I have a filter that shows me everything that is open and targeted for a particular release. I would like to have another filter that shows me everything that is open that isn't targeted for that particular release.

Lou,

I see that your reqyest is a little different than I thought. When you mentioned:

I would like to have another filter that shows me everything that is open that isn't targeted for that particular release.

Does this mean that you would like to apply the NOT operator to the Fix Versions field?
