 Description  « Hide
When sending bulk emails from Options & Settings -> Send email, vertical white space is ignored in the body of the message. So something like:

Dear all,

Jira will be down for maintatenance

Yours, Jira-admin

Ends up as: Dear all, Jira will be down for maintenance Yours, Jira-admin.

It would be nice if we could send basic plaintext messages, or even better had a good UI for sending HTML mark-up.

Hm I just saw that by default messages are 'HTML' not 'text' which I assume is why they result in one line if just a text message. Given the interface, would be better if it was 'text' by default, as users typically don't write html messages.

Michelle,

I have just fixed this for 3.4. Though, the default is now set to the User Default mime tpye. Therefore if the user default value for mime type is text, then the default value for the Bulk mail will be text.

Though, if the default is html, the Administrator will need to make sure the email is in HTML format or change the mime type manually.

Cheers,
Nick

Just to add the reasoning behind this:

It is possible to set the default mail MIME type for users in JIRA. In JIAR 3.4 it will be possible to do this through teh UI.

I believe it would make sense that admins would want to send the bulk mail with the same MIME as the default in JIRA. JIRA is shipped with the default set to text.

Anton

What is really needed here is a "preview" option. I can write HTML, but because I can't preview it first, I am very hesitant to use this feature. One messed up font tag and all recipients can see that the QA guy messed up
