After upgrading a JIRA 3.0.3 Standard copy of JIRA to 3.3.1 Standard, it sometimes happens that one cannot create issues afterwards. Creating issues fails with:

Errors

  • Resolution: The resolution selected is invalid.

The current work around is to set a default resolution in the administration section.

Deleting a default resolution or priority now removes the default

Regardless of the cause, the problem is still there - you can't create issues after an upgrade. Presumably we need to create an upgrade task to check for this.

I added an upgrade task that will remove the default resolution property if it exists and does not resolve to a valid resolution.
