Need to get more information on this issue - where exactly is the whitespace, and can we tweak the HTML so that it doesn't occur? If so, that would be a better solution than providing a flag.
Just a thought.. since different users use different browsers, and each version of their preferred browser may work differently, maybe the flag that controls this behaviour, whatever it turns out to be, should be configurable for each user (in edit profile) as opposed to each system. So, if there's a flag "Ignore page break requests in Full content view" or whatever it turns out to be, each user can set it based on how their version of their browser works. That way you don't have to worry about pleasing every version of Firefox, I.E., etc. etc. I don't know if that's possible within the framework of JIRA, but it might be easier, support wise, in the long run. That way you don't have to issue patches every time Firefox sends out a release or some user has installed some custom extension, etc.
Not really an opinion about page bereak in IE or FireFox... but why on earth do I get page breaks on Word doc? I got all this white space when I want to print a word doc. If there is a reason for page break in word which I cannot think of, I have a suggestion:
When I click on the link to see full content in word, a popup will ask me "Do you want to use page breaks? yes/no" and that way I have it my way... |
