It's impossible to edit an issue that is closed, even if the user has the "edit issue" permission.

Is it a hard coded control ?

If yes, how can we deactivate it ?
If not, it's then a bug. How can we workaround this problem ?

Any news on this issue ?

Jeff Turner [Atlassian] added a comment - 26/Jan/05 08:18 PM
It could be said that the definition of the "closed" state is "an issue that can't be edited". If an issue may still be changed, then 'Resolved' is the appropriate status. Editability is the only functional difference between Resolved and Closed in the default JIRA workflow.

It's a good default behaviour, but not the only possible behaviour. For example, if we want to make a bulk change because we want to add a new field in order to categorize the issues, we cannot since closed issues are not editable... We need to reopen everything before to make the changes.

Since we can totally parameterize the workflow, we should also be able to parametrize the editability of the issues --> There should be a post function of the workflow that allow us to set the editability of the issue.

I think that you can change the title of this issue and the type to Enhancement...

Isn't it fixed in .3.2?

Richard THIBAULT added a comment - 22/Jul/05 07:11 AM
That's solved since 3.2 yes.
