We'd like to see this also. In our case, often the submitter might have a handful of screenshots to attach, and due to the default file size limit (10MB), or the limit on attachments on the create screen (it seems to only allows up to 3 attachments, not sure if this is changeable) - they end up attaching their 5 screenshots as a .zip - which is far less convenient for everyone who looks at the issue - no thumbs, non-visible individual image names etc.
I think the reason for the disparity is that in earlier versions you couldn't add an attachment at the time of issue creation either, and they added that as an enhancement. With regards to the number of attachments to show initially, try changing atlassian-jira\WEB-INF\classes\jira-application.properties
circa line 85: jira.attachment.number = 5 (from 3). In version 3.02 you might be stuck with just the one on the original issue creation and the above number on the attach multiple files screen. In later versions, if you attach a file, it prompts you for another one (a new entry field appears), probably up to the max specified above. Neal- Thanks for the tip on increasing the number of attachments you can add on one screen, that worked. -Steve
Hi!
What status does this issue have? Are there plans to include such feature in next releases? Thanks! Hi,
Unfortuantely we do not have any concrete plans for this. However, I very much doubt that we will be able to include it in the next release. Thanks, any idea if this feature will be included in one of the next releases?
Thanks, Nicolas Agreed--this would be a tremendous benefit to ease of use. Especially since the screenshots can just be pasted in; we are a Mac-based development company and it's easy as pie to take a screenshot and paste it (just two keystrokes). Would make using JIRA a breeze for this work!
Just wanted to comment how useful this could be as well. From a workflow standpoint, it would be easier to add screenshots at the time of occurance and then add supporting text and data referencing the screenshot data before the first save. The full potential value of this great feature is lost if only available after save. In my case I would opt for regular file upload since I can do that during creation over the screenshot tool, only because it allows me to do everything in the same step (creation). I would still use the feature for updates, of course, but for some groups knowing that you can just prtscrn and swap over and paste immediately (allowing for additional inserts realtime) would increase productivity and efficiency.
A user recently published a plug-in called JIRASnap
Being able to use the SS attachment in the reporting phase would be a great asset in saving time with reporting issues.
It would actually be very convenient to be able to add screenshots in any transition. JIRASnap looks nice, but is only useful for the creation of issues. We would like to be able to add screenshots in a later stage of the workflow.
It might be best to have a "Screenshot" custom field with paste button, so it can be easily added to any desired form or transition.
We're trying to push adoption Jira at work and the users are squawking that it's easier to just send an email to the dev team with a screenshot pasted in, so having it be part of the Create Issue page (vs creating, then opening, then pasting) would go along way towards popularizing Jira. I'd just like to add a "me too" to this issue. Probably about 25% of the issues we have raised need a screen cap attached at time of issue creation.
This is one of our most-requested features to be added to Jira. Most of our issues involve screen captures of our website, so the extra step is involved in at least half of them.
This is a common-sense enhancement that needs to get included in the product.
I must join the pack of people asking for this feature. It would be very handy and improve productivity.
+1
We need it... helpppppppppp! This improvement would be really beneficial to our organisation where most cases are created with a screenshot.
I've tried JIRA Snap without any success. Jira 3.13, while it doesn't let you use the copy/paste screenshot applet, will convert any normal file attachment who's file type is an image file into a thumbnail/screenshot.
